Joe Hand Gym at Ringside tournament

A group of young boxers from the Joe Hand Gym took on the world recently, and two came home champions! Marcus Aguirre and Alhoussein Dumbuya each won their divisions at the recent Ringside World Championships in Independence, Mo.

Aguirre claimed gold in the men’s senior novice 141-pound weight class and Dumbuya was the boys’ junior novice champion at 125 pounds. Congrats to them both!

It was a great showing for our whole team as Nafis Owens, Gregory Barber, Kyree Williams, and Jamar Williams each reached the semifinals. We are so proud!

Danny Davis, who escorted the team, was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Referee. The team was coached by Jon Davis. The Joe Hand Gym thanks Bernard Hopkins, whose generous donation purchased the equipment, and Enterprise Holdings Vice President/General Manager Bobby Keyes, who donated the van the team used to travel to the tournament. We are so fortunate to have them as supporters.
