Joe Hand Boxing Gym & Computer Lab to Host Career Day on Saturday, April 29
The Joe Hand Boxing Gym and Computer Lab will host a career day for children ages 16-18 on Saturday, April 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
The event will feature several speakers and an interview skills session. Among the scheduled speakers are: Robert Keyes, Vice President/General Manager for Enterprise Holdings; Shaka Johnson, criminal defense attorney; and professional boxing trainer Danny Davis.
Our goal is to help teens reach their full potential by learning valuable networking skills, to open their minds to a number of career paths, and to teach them what it means to be employable. We hope to continue mentoring these young adults as they begin their journey into the work force.
The Joe Hand Boxing Gym is located at 547 N. Third Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19123. For inquiries into the gym and its programs, call the office at 215-271-4263 or visit the gym’s website at www.JoeHandGym.com.
About Joe Hand Boxing Gym & Computer Lab
Started by Joe Hand Promotions in 1995, the Joe Hand Boxing Gym and Computer Lab, a non-profit organization, has been a community landmark for more than 20 years. Joe Hand Sr., a retired Philadelphia police detective, saw the gym as a safe place for Philly’s children and young adults to hone their skills in boxing or spend time learning computer skills.
The Joe Hand Boxing Gym offers regulation boxing rings, brand new equipment and a modern computer center where children from the community can participate in the educational process.
